Dave is in the middle of a massive tour of Japan and is visiting card shops across the country, so when he gets back he'll have a ton of posts about card shops (he cautions me that it might take him a while to put them up though!) His blog will probably be the de facto guide to Japanese card shops after that!Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4243926228844409495.post-911716770986144572019-05-29T19:14:25.606-07:002019-05-29T19:14:25.606-07:00Yeah, it was a lot of fun finally meeting someone ...Yeah, it was a lot of fun finally meeting someone from the blogisphere, Dave is the first I've met in person. The shop wasn't busy, though we visited on a Tuesday afternoon around 2PM which is probably their slow time. One other customer came in while we were there, he was wearing a bunch of Dragons stuff and seemed like a regular from the way he talked with the owner, but otherwise it was just us. They probably do a lot of their business through their online shop, while I was there the wife was mostly working on the computer and they both seemed busy despite the lack of foot traffic so I think they are doing OK!Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4243926228844409495.post-80580186237940199332019-05-29T19:11:23.789-07:002019-05-29T19:11:23.789-07:00Yeah, he struck me as a really nice guy too who wa...Yeah, he struck me as a really nice guy too who was quite knowledgeable and eager to help out. That is a good point that I forgot to mention in the post, they are great for recent (post 1990s) stuff, but their stock of vintage stuff is very small, I didn't see any menko in there (though I didn't ask for any, they might have had some behind the counter or something like they did with the 80s Calbees they brought out for me)!Seanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13681778110046124243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4243926228844409495.post-62698258568415654402019-05-29T19:09:15.808-07:002019-05-29T19:09:15.808-07:00Yeah, it was a lot of fun!

I'm glad to see it is surviving..was it busy? I see they sell a few sumo card boxes on their website. This is great that you are able to meet up and blog about hanging out with a fellow blogger!SumoMenkoManhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17461389544030702085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4243926228844409495.post-38876383222560272252019-05-29T09:49:24.462-07:002019-05-29T09:49:24.462-07:00Bits is my favorite shop now that Caps is gone. I've spoken to the owner a bunch of times (he's given me very generous discounts throughout the years, mainly because I always try to give him a bunch of free stuff I've accumulated here too).
The owner's really smart and knowledgeable about a lot of things and we usually end up having long conversations pertaining to baseball, life, social issues, politics, (usually hard no topics but since I'm not well versed on issues in Japan I appreciate his input).
The shop itself is nice because if you need something, you can easily see if they might have it because everything's so organized. The only problem is that their inventory is a bit limited. Put another way, I trust them for newer Dragons/Grampus cards I'd want, not exactly for menkos/bromides/vintage from before color was invented.Zippy Zappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06695389359056056119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4243926228844409495.post-56394588754215262872019-05-29T07:59:07.867-07:002019-05-29T07:59:07.867-07:00Oh man... I'd love to one day cross the Pacific and make it over to Japan. If and when I do, I'm hoping there are still card shops like these still around.Fujihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00749100861086458307noreply@blogger.com
